Scope of works
J M Brown Ltd were appointed to carry out internal and external refurbishment works to a recently purchased residential property on Harley Street.
The aim of the project was to restore the building and bring it back to life, addressing long standing issues with the external façade while carefully reinstating the original character and detailing of the property.
Initial investigations revealed that large areas of the existing render had become delaminated due to prolonged water ingress, which had also led to areas of underlying masonry deterioration.
The team carefully removed the failing render from all external elevations to expose the substrate and assess the condition of the masonry beneath.
Any necessary masonry repairs were carried out to stabilise the façade and prepare the surfaces for the reinstatement works.
Once the structure had been made sound, the elevations were re-rendered using traditional Roman cement, a material well suited to historic and period properties.
The render was applied to match the original lines, levels and architectural details of the building, ensuring the restored façade remained sympathetic to the character of the property.
The completed works successfully revitalised the external appearance of the building while improving its durability and protection against future water ingress, helping to preserve the property for many years to come.
